Fontarèche is one of the great historic wine estates of Languedoc, located near Lézignan-Corbières.
The inventories of the Archbishop of Narbonne mention vines at Fontarèche dating back to 1350. In 1682, Château Fontarèche and its wine estate passed to the Mignard family, whose descendants, the De Lamy family, still own the estate. 160 hectares of classified vines (Corbières and half Vin de Pays), have flourished here seemingly forever.
Fontarèche is home for 17 grape varieties, the mainstay of the reds being Carignan. Picpoul Noir, Roussanne, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino also fill the rows. Agronomy and oenology are our vocation, for the benefit of consumers, but also for passing a sustainable, living heritage on to future generations.
Vincent Dubernet, Director of oenology, comes from winemaking family, of wich he is the fifth generation. He joined Fontarèche in 2008.
